Can anyone learn to podcast? How can I learn to podcast for business? How does one podcast for free? How do you get started on a podcast? Is there a course to learn to podcast?
These are some of the questions I get asked regularly at my Podcast studio. They have inspired me to respond in a number of ways. The first is to develop a professional Learn to Podcast course in collaboration with my colleagues in the world of podcasting. My aim? To teach people to set up their own podcast from scratch in six weeks!
This is a work in progress that I would like to make available far and wide once it is complete. It focuses on everything from building confidence to how to set up a podcast studio at home and detailing all the equipment you need. We have been beta testing this with a core team of podcast learners and the feedback has been most encouraging. For example, Al says “I’m loving this course and learning so much. It is so well presented and informative. The section on branding is particularly brilliant. Pleased you don’t only focus on practical aspects of podcasting alone but also on overcoming mental obstacles.”
So, watch this space for more details. We hope to have my online podcasting master class up and running later this year.

The other action I took was closer to home, offering funded training to individuals, charities and businesses in the North East of England as part of my role as a podcasting export with the Newcastle Library / BIPC North East. See the video below. This training is offered in conjunction with funding to start a podcast for those who need it. I am also currently on a professional coaching course to gain further qualifications to coach people in podcasting.
So can anyone podcast? Yes you can, you don’t need to have an MBA to be a successful podcaster, although I may have one! It’s more about having something to say, the confidence to say it and the ability to deliver your message in a technically sound way that positions you as a professional in your craft. In this way you will come across as an authentic, authoritative voice which will help build your brand.
